Bringing Nanoscience to K-12 Schools in Southeastern Ohio:
Scheduling Visits to Junior High and High Schools
An important part of our NIRT nanoscience project is to expose K-12 students and teachers to current developments in the area of nanoscience. To do so, school visits from the nanoscience faculty involved with this NIRT project can be scheduled by request. The following faculty are involved:
- Prof. Art Smith
- Prof. Saw-Wai Hla
- Prof. Nancy Sandler
- Prof. Sergio Ulloa
The home pages of these individuals are found at the following URL:
http://plato.phy.ohiou.edu
Visits must be scheduled by mutual agreement between the requesting school and the NIRT team, and timing will be subject to their constraints. We welcome junior highs and high schools to request visits and look forward to working with you. Visits can be anytime during the K-12 academic school year.
Different modes of visits are possible. In one mode, we make presentations to one class at a time, back-to-back, when school is in regular session. In a second mode, we can do presentations to groups of students on “Career days.” We will work with teachers/administrators to find methods of maximizing the impact of these school visits.
To schedule a visit, please send your request by e-mail to:
