Researchers Manipulate Atoms on 3-D Surface

Written by Liz Leitch, 01.25.2007

NIRT researchers have reported in “Physical Review Letters” individual atom removal from a cluster of silver atoms on a three-dimensional surface. This type of manipulation can be done on a flat surface, but advancing to a three-dimensional surface requires even greater precision and control.
